This week, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue’s Logistics Division moved into its new Logistics Service Center located at 9991 SW Avery St. in Tualatin. Supply warehouse, fleet maintenance, communications, facilities maintenance, and administrative support staff will occupy the renovated 40,000-square-foot building that has been undergoing tenant improvements over the past year.
TVF&R’s Logistics Division has been housed at the North Operating Center in Aloha, which was originally built in 1979 and designed to serve five fire stations in the area. Over the past four decades and 22 additional fire stations later, the District has managed to continue operating out of the campus but has been challenged with decentralization and limited space.
District leaders recognized the need to centrally locate these services within our boundaries to better serve the entire District. Upon identifying and securing the vacant building that was available in Tualatin, the Aloha campus was sold to Washington County.
Improvements to the existing Avery Street building included seismic upgrades to meet current building codes and enhanced workflow design for each group, which will greatly improve efficiencies in service.
The Logistics Division is the driving force of what keeps the District functioning and able to perform at the high standard that our communities have come to expect and deserve. Logistics staff provide critical services that keep our apparatus running, our fire stations operational, our personnel equipped with supplies needed to successfully perform their job, and the ability to ensure uninterrupted, reliable communications among our workforce and our emergency services partner agencies.
This community investment will serve the District for many decades to come and greatly supports the work firefighters perform when proudly serving our residents and businesses every day.
