Duplex Fire Displaces Beaverton Family

Menlo Duplex Fire.jpg
Firefighters from Station 67 and 66 were able to quickly extinguish the bulk of the fire and conduct a search of the building to ensure that all occupants were out. Their aggressive firefighting kept most of the flames from spreading to the adjacent unit, though some fire extended into the shared attic space. Firefighters remained on scene for more than an hour to conduct overhaul, salvage belongings, remove smoke and ensure that none of the hot spots in the attic rekindled.

A family has been displaced as a result of the fire and the American Red Cross will be assisting them with lodging and other needs. A TVF&R investigator remains on scene conducting witness interviews and examining material evidence to determine where and how the fire started. There is no damage estimate at this time. With high temperatures, firefighters urge caution when using any materials or equipment that can start a fire.
