The National Homeland Security Association Board of Directors recently honored TVF&R Firefighter/Paramedic Dacia Grayber with a National Homeland Security Conference Scholarship.
Following a competitive process, Grayber was selected to present during the 2018 conference held last month in New York City on “Cascadia Rising” and using a full-scale exercise to enhance public safety resilience. As part of her presentation, Grayber highlighted how TVF&R utilized FEMA Region X’s Cascadia Rising exercise to strengthen local partnerships and test the fire district’s updated systems and response plans in the event of a magnitude 9.0 earthquake.
Her presentation was one of several innovative sessions offered to a variety of homeland security professionals covering topics in law enforcement, fire service, emergency management, counterterrorism, grants management and more.
Grayber was recognized on stage during the conference as a scholarship recipient by Branch Strickland, executive director of budget and financial planning for New York City's Office of Emergency Management.
