On Saturday, August 12, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue will host an open house at Station 17 located on Commercial St in North Plains at 31370 NW Commercial St in conjunction with the city’s Elephant Garlic Festival. Families and community members are invited to tour the station, meet with firefighters, participate in the Junior Firefighter challenge, and learn fire and life safety tips.
Located in the northwest corner of TVF&R’s service area, Station 17 serves the residents of North Plains and the surrounding communities. Guests to the station will be able to check out both an engine and a brush rig, used to carry water to areas more difficult to access and areas without hydrants. One of TVF&R’s antiques, Engine 29, will also be on-site for the open house.
Station 17 takes pride in its long history of service to the North Plains community, not only in fire and emergency medical response, but also in its partnership with events such as the Annual Egg Hunt and the Garlic Festival.
