Emergency scene tape and investigation vehicles surround the charred remains of a 1977 Ford motor home that had been parked on the street in the 19000 block of SW 67th Avenue.

Callers to 9-1-1 first reported sounds of popping and sights of flames coming from the motor home around 2:36a.m. Multiple reports of the fire were received and none of the callers were sure whether the motor home was occupied. Firefighters from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue’s Tualatin Station 34 arrived within two minutes of being dispatched to the call. They were able to extinguish the fire within five minutes and keep it from spreading to a nearby home.

Once the heavy smoke cleared, firefighters made a grim discovery: an adult occupant was dead inside. Due to the intensity of the heat and flames, the person was not recognizable and law enforcement officials and a medical examiner are working to determine the identity of the victim and the cause of their death.

Fire investigators remain on scene and will work in partnership with law enforcement. They will continue to conduct witness interviews, gather material evidence and work to reconstruct the timeline of events that lead to the cause of the fire.
