Firefighters from TVF&R and Hillsboro Fire & Rescue responded to a second-alarm fire in the 1700 block of SW Harvey Way in Beaverton just after 2:00 p.m. today. Callers to 911 reported seeing flames and smoke coming from a backyard between multiple homes in a residential neighborhood.

First-arriving firefighters found heavy flames coming from a two-story home that had begun spreading to an adjacent home. Firefighters immediately began to fight the fire and search the surrounding area to ensure all residents had safely evacuated.

Approximately 40 firefighters worked to fight the fire, conduct searches, salvage belongings, overhaul the houses and decontaminate tools. All occupants and pets were safety evacuate and uninjured. One firefighter was treated for a medical issue and was transported to a local hospital.

The fire severely damaged the siding and walls of two homes and extended into the attic space of one displacing families living in both residences. A third home suffered some exterior heat damage.

A TVF&R fire investigator remains on scene to determine the cause of the fire.

In addition to HF&R, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Metro West Ambulance, Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency (911), Northwest Natural, and PGE provided assistance at the scene.
