[ARCHIVED] COVID-19

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue established an internal COVID-19 task force and is working closely with local public health departments and state agencies to coordinate information. Based on CDC guidelines and input from our physician supervisor, we’re working to ensure the safety of our personnel while continuing to provide the high level of emergency response that our communities expect.

District leadership, in coordination with state and local partners, have put plans in place to ensure the continuity of emergency operations. This includes updated protocols for 911 call takers, refreshed training for personal protective equipment, and patient assessment strategies that limit the potential for exposure.

Additionally, TVF&R is taking precautionary measures in response to COVID-19.

These measures are informed by the latest information and conversations District leaders are having with local and state public health partners. The following changes will reduce unnecessary exposure and further spread of the virus and allow us to focus on our primary mission — fast and effective emergency response.

Effective immediately, the following measures were enacted through the end of April:

  • Fire station community room use, and station tours were suspended.

  • First responders will not attend community events. (Examples include school visits, neighborhood and community association meetings, and non-emergent community activities.)

  • All district-organized events have been cancelled or postponed.

  • Suspension of inspections by TVF&R’s Fire & Life Safety team at large assembly occupancies.

We are grateful for the community support we have received while we address the specific needs of COVID-19 and look forward to resuming our community outreach efforts in the future. These precautionary measures will continue to be evaluated, and updates will be provided as necessary.

Please follow recommendations from public health officials and sign up for regular updates from the Oregon Health Authority.
