Governor Kate Brown recently announced members of the Oregon Wildfire Council, which includes Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue Assistant Chief Les Hallman.
The council is charged with evaluating national and global best practices in fire prevention, management, and suppression to make recommendations for Oregon's future wildfire management. The council met for the first time on Monday.
"Fire threatens communities, smoke compromises our health, and our local economy suffers," said Governor Brown. "We need to make sure we are doing everything we can, and that we are building support for the sustainable funding needed to change this pattern. I'm so pleased to bring many experts together to tackle this important issue that deeply affects Oregonians and our lands."
The council brings together experts whose work has environmental, health, and economic intersections with wildfire.
We are proud that TVF&R Assistant Chief Les Hallman is a member of Governor Kate Brown’s Oregon Wildfire Council! Chief Hallman has extensive experience fighting and managing wildfires. Since TVF&R’s service area includes places at risk of brush and wildfires, his insight will benefit our community and the state.
