Posted on: October 21, 2017[ARCHIVED] Firefighters Quickly Extinguish House Fire In Beaverton

At 3:45 p.m. today, an alert neighbor called 911 to report smoke coming from the roof of an adjacent home on Wheaton Lane in Beaverton. Based on the caller's description of the smoke that continued to worsen, 911 dispatchers immediately upgraded the call to a first alarm to ensure adequate resources were sent to the scene.
The Battalion Chief covering the northern part of the district arrived within four minutes of being dispatched to the house fire. Upon arrival, he confirmed that smoke was coming from the roof of the home and began managing incoming resources that arrived on scene shortly after. Firefighters from the Farmington and Brockman Road stations immediately began a search of the home and determined that the bulk of the fire was in the attic and an exterior wall. Once the primary search was complete and no occupants were found inside, they began an aggressive fire attack, knocking down the fire in less than 20 minutes. The firefighters' quick response and fire attack methods helped contain the fire, smoke, and water used to extinguish the fire resulting in minimal damage to the home.
Two occupants along with their dog and cat were home at the time the fire broke out, but safely evacuated with the help of the neighbor. The residents and their pets are temporarily displaced due to the power being shut off to their home. They have elected to figure out temporary housing on their own.
