Posted on: October 9, 2017[ARCHIVED] Firefighters Prevent 1st Alarm Shop Fire From Spreading to Home

At 9:10 a.m. today, crews were dispatched to reports of a fully involved shop fire at 955 NE Sheridan St. in Newberg.
En route to the incident, firefighters saw a large column of black smoke and upgraded the response to bring additional resources. Crews arrived to find flames and heavy black smoke coming out of a 30 x 60 shop. The shop was less than 50 feet from a home and was beginning to threaten a second large shop behind it.
Firefighters began attacking the initial fire, positioning themselves between the shop and the home, while another crew gained access through a fence to protect the adjacent shop.
Crews were successful in preventing the fire from spreading and salvaged some of the owner's classic cars and valuables.
TVF&R was assisted by Dundee Fire, Yamhill County Sheriff's Office and City of Newberg Public Works.
An investigator remains on scene conducting witness interviews, analyzing burn patterns and working to determine the cause of the fire.
