At 8:23 am today, an alert passerby called 9-1-1 to report that they saw smoke coming from the roof and all windows of a business located at 4345 SW 109th Ave. in Beaverton. The business - The Center for Behavioral Intervention - is located in a residential house that was converted for commercial use.
Firefighters from nearby Beaverton stations arrived and initiated a search of the structure and fire attack. The source of the fire was isolated to the garage, which was being used for storage. Firefighters were able to make a quick stop on the fire. After completing primary and secondary searches of the structure, firefighters determined that there was nobody inside.
A TVF&R fire investigator has determined that this fire was intentionally set. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and Washington County Sheriff's Office remain on scene jointly investigating this incident. A valuation of fire damage is not available at this time.
This morning's fire is a reminder to remain alert to your surroundings and report any suspicious activity, smoke, or fire by calling 9-1-1.
