Just before noon on Thursday, firefighters from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue responded to a reported two-vehicle collision on Highway 99 near Northeast Haugen Road in Newberg. Callers told emergency dispatchers that it was a head-on collision.

First-arriving firefighters from the Springbrook Station in Newberg confirmed that two vehicles collided head on, and multiple patients were injured.

Firefighters requested a second alarm to bring additional resources to the scene. The occupants of both vehicles were still trapped inside.

Additional resources responded to assist with the extrication of the patients, including resources from TVF&R's Technical Rescue Team.

Firefighters worked for approximately 30 minutes to extricate all three patients from both vehicles. One patient was transported to Oregon Health & Science University for traumatic injuries; two others were transported to Providence Newberg Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Highway 99 was closed for approximately 45 minutes while firefighters worked at the scene. Oregon State Police is investigating the cause of the collision.
