Thanks to an alert neighbor who called 9-1-1 around 3:20pm today, firefighters were swiftly dispatched and arrived to find light black smoke coming from the garage of a single-story home at 8905 SW Oleson Road. The first arriving engine company quickly knocked down the fire despite some hampered access due to items densely stored in the garage. Firefighters searched the home and found no one inside. No injuries were reported. Oleson Road was closed to traffic for a brief time to allow crews to safely work at putting out the fire. Portland Fire & Rescue Engine 18 also assisted on this fire.
A TVF&R investigator is still working to determine the cause of the fire but states that the possible area of origin was near the water heater in the garage. No damage estimate is available at this time.
