Just before 2:00 a.m, TVF&R firefighters responded to multiple reports of a unit fully engulfed in flames at Willamette Terrace Apartments in the 1700 block of Blankenship Road.
First-arriving firefighters from the downtown West Linn fire station were met by evacuating tenants. They began an aggressive fire attack and quickly knocked down the bulk of the flames in two units on the third floor. Crews then worked to ensure the fire was out by extinguishing hot spots from the roof and pulling ceiling from inside apartments.
The two units on the third floor were heavily damaged by fire and the four units below are currently uninhabitable. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
A TVF&R fire investigator remains on scene to determine the cause of the fire. There are no damage estimates available at this time.
Officers from the West Linn Police Department and firefighters from Clackamas Fire District #1 also assisted with onscene operations.
The complex was not equipped with a fire sprinkler system. When a fire sprinkler system is present, the likelihood of injuries and costly damage is dramatically reduced.
