[ARCHIVED] Burn Ban Lifted in Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue’s Service Area

Effective at 3 p.m. today, the burn ban has been lifted in all areas served by Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue. This is in coordination with the Washington County Fire Defense Board.

It is important to note that property owners wishing to conduct backyard burning may do so only during designated Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) burn seasons which are October 1-December 15 and March 1-June 15. Additionally, there is no backyard burning allowed at any time within the Permanent DEQ Burn Ban Boundaries.

Lifting the ban means that agricultural burning and recreational burning are now open in all areas outside the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) protection boundary. Inside the ODF protection boundary, all fire season and regulated use parameters are still in effect and burning is not allowed without a permit. ODF is prepared to help agricultural burners accomplish their needs when conditions are safe to do so in the forest environment.

Daily burn information can be found at the Willamette Valley Open Burning Announcement web site or on the TVF&R Burn Information Line at 503-259-1789. The announcement will confirm whether it is a DEQ or ODF authorized burn day, including approved hours.

Although weather conditions have brought about cooler temperatures and rain, we encourage residents to remain extremely cautious when burning and to comply with all applicable burning regulations.
