A fire investigator determined the area of origin of the fire was the exterior patio courtyar d area along the east side of the building. The exact cause of the fire was not determined, however credible ignition sources found in the vicinity included a charcoal BBQ, propane BBQ, propane crab pot-turkey fryer, as well as a known smoker in one of the units that adjoined our area of interest.
The fire climbed the exterior wall fracturing multiple windows, which in turn provided for interior fire spread. In addition, flames extended to the attic space early during the event through the attic vents along the roof eaves resulting in approximately 70% of the roof being consumed in the fire. Damage is extensive throughout and the building appears to be a total loss.

At 1:02am TVF&R Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a fire in Beaverton on SW 125th off of SW Hall Blvd. On arrival crews found heavy fire coming from several units of the apartment building and immediately called for a 2nd alarm to bring additional resources to the scene. Firefighters pulled water lines to all corners of the structure and attacked the fire from the exterior. Due to sheer amount of fire, crews continued a defensive attack until the bulk of the flames were extinguished. A search of the structure by firefighters found no one inside.
The apartments were not equipped with residential sprinklers, which were not required at the time the structure was built. A fire investigator is on scene to determine fire cause and origin.
Approximately 10 people were displaced by the fire and being assisted by Red Cross.
