At 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, several callers contacted 911 to report heavy fire coming from a two-story home in Aloha near the cross streets of Southwest 185th Avenue and Bany Road.
Firefighters from Cooper Mountain Station 69 were the first to arrive on scene and found both the roof and back side of the house fully involved.
Crews started a quick attack of the fire with a master water stream from their engine, while other firefighters secured a water source. Due to the volume of fire, crews continued to fight the fire from the exterior, while focusing on the exposures to ensure fire did not spread to neighboring structures.
The homeowner said he was awoken by his granddaughter only to notice the back of his house was on fire. He and two other occupants quickly exited the structure and called 911 from a neighbor's house.
The home suffered significant damage and is uninhabitable. Red Cross is currently assisting the family.
A fire investigator has determined the fire started on the exterior of the house near the back side and continues to investigate to find the fire cause.
Approximately 25 Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue firefighters were working at the scene of the fire. No injuries were reported.
