At 3:59 a.m. a passer-by called 911 to report the side of a house and fence were on fire at a West Slope home near Southwest Timberline Drive and Southwest Garden View Avenue. On arrival, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue firefighters found flames burning the south side of the home, as well as heavy smoke and fire coming from the second-story windows.
Firefighters initiated a quick attack on the fire, while conducting a search of the home at the same time. Crews were able to get knockdown of the fire in approximately 20 minutes and prevent the fire from spreading to a neighboring house just 14 feet away.
A single female was home at the time of the fire and was able to escape with no injuries. She said she had gotten up to use the restroom when she noticed flames outside her bedroom window and quickly exited the home.
A TVF&R fire investigator is working at the scene to determine the cause of the fire and its origin. No injuries were reported. TVF&R was assisted by Portland Engine 16.
