At 3:30 a.m., a caller reported to 911 that there was a fire in a bedroom and it was spreading through the house. The caller was the sole occupant of the residence and safely exited the home.
While en route to 7115 NW Kaiser Road, firefighters saw a large column of black smoke and arrived to find heavy fire engulfing a two-story farm house. Because of the rural location, firefighter used water tenders to transport water from a nearby hydrant and supply hose lines.
The home sustained heavy damage, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. There is no damage estimate at this time.
Hillsboro Fire assisted with an engine and water tender. Kaiser Road was temporarily closed between Germantown and Brugger roads.
TVF&R reminds everyone to have and maintain working smoke alarms in your home. Additionally, if you encounter large or quickly growing fires, do not attempt to extinguish the fire yourself. Evacuate to a safe place away from the fire and call 911 immediately. For more safety tips, please visit www.tvfr.com.
