Around noon today, firefighters responded to reports of a propane barbecue fire that had ignited exterior siding at a home in the 20000 block of SW Commanche Terrace in Tualatin. Firefighters arrived to find the backside of the home on fire and spreading to the attic space. They aggressively fought the fire from the outside, while also verifying that no one was inside the home.
Firefighters extended a ladder onto the roof, and vented steam and gases from the attic. They were able to keep the fire from spreading into the living space, though the two occupants and their small dog will be displaced as a result of the fire.
Fire crews contended with high outside temperatures and had to frequently rotate to replenish air tanks and hydrate. An investigator confirmed the cause of the fire and there is no damage estimate at this time
