Residents escaped a fast moving fire in a duplex located at 10545 SW Tranquil Way in Wilsonville today. The first call to 911 came in at 11:28am reporting flames and smoke seen in the backyard burning up the exterior of the home. A neighbor tried to assist the resident by using a garden hose but was unsuccessful. Crews from Station 52 arrived within three minutes to find a working fire that had spread into the attic space.

The incident was upgraded to a first-alarm to bring additional resources to the scene. Firefighters quickly made access into the home to fight the fire and ensure all residents were out safely. Crews confirmed that the unit directly impacted by fire was evacuated. Firefighters also confirmed that the adjacent unit was clear of residents but one small dog was rescued from the adjacent home. No injuries were reported but one cat is still missing. Three adult residents and two pets have been displaced as a result of this fire.

A TVF&R fire investigator responded to the scene and the cause of the fire is undetermined. The area of origin for the fire was outside the home in the backyard area then spread into the attic space of the home. A damage estimate is not available at this time.
