At 1:53 p.m. today, dispatchers received multiple reports of flames and black smoke coming out the windows of a fourplex apartment building on 12270 SW Gingham Lane in Beaverton.
Within five minutes, firefighters from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue’s Station 66 arrived to find heavy fire and pressurized smoke coming from the front door and eves of the building.
Firefighters quickly identified the bulk of the fire was coming from the kitchen in one of the lower units. They were able to bring the fire under control within 18 minutes. Searches confirmed that all residents were accounted for, and there were no reported injuries.
Four families were displaced and assisted by the American Red Cross.
It is unclear at this time how the fire started, but an investigator is examining material evidence and conducting witness interviews. Fire crews were assisted by Beaverton Police, who conducted traffic control.
