Within five minutes, firefighters from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue’s Station 67 arrived to find grey and brown smoke coming from the eaves and confirmed hot, blackened windows.
Since no one was home in the affected duplex, firefighters had to force the door. Once inside, they quickly attacked the fire and conducted a search to confirm that no one was trapped or unconscious inside. Additional fire crews rescued two dogs from the unit adjacent the fire, which had started to fill with smoke. They also worked to salvage and protect belongings from fire, smoke, and water damage.
It is unclear at this time how the fire started, but an investigator is on scene and will examine material evidence and conduct witness interviews. Fire crews were assisted by Beaverton Police, who conducted traffic control and helped with bystanders. There were no injuries as a result of the fire, and there is no damage estimate at this time.
