At 11:32am on Dec. 25th TVF&R firefighters were dispatched to a report of a house fire on SW Meadowbrook Way in Beaverton. On arrival crews found smoke coming from the garage and one patient who was leaning on a vehicle just in front of the garage. While crews worked to quickly put out the fire, additional firefighter/paramedics provided medical care to the pa tient.
Part of a two car garage had been converted into a bedroom and it was in this bedroom where the fire was located and confined. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within 10 minutes of arrival. In addition, a TVF&R fire investigator discovered that neighbors had assisted in getting the patient out of the house. After treatment on-scene, the patient was quickly transported to Legacy Emanuel with serious injuries. Three other family members were home at the time of the fire and escaped on their own.
A total of 5 family members were displaced by the fire and are being assisted by Red Cross. A fire cause is not known at this time, as investigators work to rule out several potential accidental ignition sources.
