At 11:39pm on Monday, September 22nd, a call to 9-1-1 came in reporting flames possibly coming from a barn at 13980 SW Tooze Road in Sherwood. As the first crew approached the scene, they reported seeing a column of smoke and upgraded the incident to a first-alarm response bringing additional resources as a precaution. Upon arrival, crews found a large burn pile approximately 50-feet by 50-feet in size and piled nearly 10-feet high. The pile was fully-involved with flame when crews arrived.
Firefighters immediately began dousing the pile with large volumes of water and foam to extinguish the fire and minimize the possibility of re-ignition. Water was shuttled to the scene using water tenders. No structures were in immediate danger from the burning pile and no injuries were reported.
