At 7:37 pm, five callers to 9-1-1 reported heavy black smoke and flames coming from the area of SW 146th Avenue and SW Trevor Lane in Tigard.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the home at 14658 SW Jordy Court fully involved in fire on multiple sides of the structure. Radiant heat from the fire was so intense that the home directly behind the structure, located at 14643 SW Trevor Lane, also became involved in fire and the windows were blown out. Firefighters aggressively attacked the fully involved structure on SW Jordy Court and worked to save and minimize damage to the home on SW Trevor Lane.
The fire commander called for a second alarm at 7:46 pm, and a third alarm was called for at 7:54 pm, bringing around 60 firefighters and needed resources to the scene. A search of both homes confirmed that all occupants safely escaped this fire prior to the arrival of fire crews. The fire was deemed under control at 8:07 pm.
Four adults and six children have been displaced from the two homes as a result of the fire. The King City Police Department and Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to provide traffic control at the scene. Southwest Beef Bend Road was closed for several hours during firefighting operations.
Fire investigators are on scene and will work to determine where and how the fire started. There are no damage estimates available at this time.
Citizens are reminded that a red flag warning is in place this weekend for critical fire conditions and the potential for explosive fire growth exists due to strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures. For fire safety and escape planning tips, visit www.tvfr.com.
