At 5:17pm today, Mountain Road Station 57 responded to a 9-1-1 call for a vehicle that struck a power pole on SW Petes Mountain Road approximately one-half mile north of SW Hoffman Road in Clackamas County. Upon arrival, the crew found a single vehicle with two occupants trapped inside. Crews called for additional resources from Wilsonville and West Linn stations including the TVF&R technical rescue team to assist with extrication of the patients. Life Flight was activated and dispatched to the scene.
The first patient was extricated and taken to an awaiting ambulance. Based on the significant damage to the vehicle, extrication of the second patient presented challenges including the potential instability of the power pole. Crews worked carefully and systematically to remove the patient. Once the patient was removed from the vehicle, that patient was transported via Life Flight helicopter. Both patients experienced life-threatening injuries.
Petes Mountain Road was closed during the incident and some residents of the area may experience temporary loss of power due to the damage of the power pole.
