At 12:34pm, TVF&R firefighters responded to a house fire on the 25000 block of SW Labrousse Road south of Sherwood. Construction workers nearby saw the smoke and called 9-1-1. Responding crews could see black smoke from Highway 99W as they approached. First-arriving firefighters reported the single story home with a daylight basement engulfed in flames.
Firefighters were unable to complete a full search of the structure due to the intensity of the fire. They were able to confirm with nearby workers, and later the homeowner, that no one was living in the house. Crews continued to aggressively fight the fire from the exterior due to safety concerns about the stability of the building. Water tenders were used to shuttle water to the scene due to a lack of fire hydrants in the immediate area.
It took firefighters about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. No injuries were reported and a TVF&R investigator remains on-scene. Newberg Fire assisted TVF&R with rural water supply operations.
