At approximately 1:27pm today, a neighbor called 9-1-1 reporting visible black smoke coming from a unit in a five-story structure that contained multiple condo homes. The first-alarm fire tapped fire units from TVF&R and Portland Fire Stations 27 and 16. Upon arrival, crews quickly made entry into the unit and knocked down the fire. Based on the crews’ swift attack on the fire, it was contained to the single unit. It was reported that the resident of that involved unit was not home at the time of the fire.
Residents in adjacent homes were already evacuating when crews arrived. TVF&R crews conducted a search of the home and confirmed no one was inside. No injuries were reported and no pets were found inside. A TVF&R investigator is still working to determine the cause of the fire. In addition to Portland Fire, crews were assisted by TVF&R volunteers.
