On Friday, Jan. 19 at 12:00 p.m., fire district leadership at Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVF&R) decided to return to normal operations. Major Emergency Operations was first initiated on Saturday January 13, to manage extremely high call volumes. Due to this high call volume and weather impacts to District operations, TVF&R also activated an incident management team to support the ongoing event and coordinate with regional partners.
Major Emergency Operations mode involved the adoption of call prioritization: high-acuity calls will be prioritized over low-acuity calls. TVF&R also established a Fire Dispatch Liaison (FDL) at Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency (WCCCA), the local 911 dispatch agency, to assist with call prioritization.
Fire district leadership will continue to closely monitor call volumes and weather conditions to ensure the continuity of fire and emergency medical response operations.
