Just after 4:30p.m. this afternoon, firefighters arrived at a working fire in the 3700 block of SW 117th Avenue in Beaverton. Two teens had already evacuated the home prior to firefighters' arrival. Firefighters rescued the family's two cats and were able to keep the fire from spreading to other nearby homes despite heavy winds.
Due to heavy smoke and fire damage, three residents will not be able to stay in their home and the American Red Cross is assisting them with lodging, food and necessities. There were no injuries as a result of the fire and the cause remains under investigation.
