YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

There are many ways you can give back to the community. If you enjoy interacting with the public, providing education to children and adults, becoming an Incident Support or Auxiliary volunteer is your path! The TVF&R Volunteer program is comprised of community-minded individuals who are looking to give back to their community through hands-on volunteer service.

Vol Page PicINCIDENT SUPPORT VOLUNTEER

  • Support firefighters at incidents in a non-firefighting capacity such as rehabilitation, air management, and general scene support
  • Participate in public education
  • Attend parades and support community events and activities
  • Attend 12 drills per calendar year unless currently enrolled in a District approved training program such as emergency medical service training or fire science degree classes
  • Complete a minimum of 24 hours of supplemental activities per calendar year

  • Restore and maintain antique apparatus
  • Attend parades and support community events and activities
  • Provide administrative support
  • Participate in public education
  • Attend one auxiliary drill per month for a total of 12 per year
  • Complete a minimum of 24 hours of supplemental activities per calendar year

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

INCIDENT SUPPORT VOLUNTEER:

  • Must be able to attend and successfully complete 100% of participation expectations for the Volunteer Recruit Academy
  • Must live within the District. See our TVF&R District Map or conduct an address search on our Fire Protection Rating page.
  • Must obtain CPR/AED certification within 12 months of becoming a volunteer (District provided training)
  • Must obtain Emergency Medical Responder license within 12 months of becoming a volunteer (District provided training) or maintain an existing licensure as an Emergency Medical Responder
  • Ability to perform those physical activities required for essential functions including, standing, walking and mobility on various surfaces including uneven ground with limited traction for an undetermined length of time. Work involves frequent crouching, stooping, twisting, turning, reaching, and grasping. Continual lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of weights up to 50 lbs., and occasionally up to 75 lbs., walking up and down stairs as well as carrying items up and downstairs; talking to and hearing others in person and over the phone or radio.

AUXILIARY VOLUNTEER:

  • Must obtain CPR/AED certification within one year of becoming a volunteer (District provided training)
  • Must be able to attend all sessions of the volunteer orientation specific to auxiliary personnel
  • Ability to perform those physical activities required for essential functions including, standing, walking and mobility on various surfaces including uneven ground with limited traction for an undetermined length of time.  Work involves frequent crouching, stooping, twisting, turning, reaching, and grasping.

BOTH VOLUNTEER ROLES (INCIDENT SUPPORT & AUXILIARY):

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school graduate or equivalent 
  • Must have a valid Oregon driver's license
  • Must pass a background investigation and drug screen
  • Key characteristics that are well-suited to the philosophy and values of the District, including a strong community and customer-service orientation, and high level of professionalism
  • Demonstrate the use of sound judgment and decision-making
  • An "unremarkable" criminal background and driving record.
  • Abide by TVF&R's Grooming Standards/Dress Code
