This past week, firefighters from across the nation traveled to the Portland area to hone their skills.
Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue had the privilege of hosting two days of a conference that focused on the most efficient ways to fight fires and improve crew dynamics.
Chief Kenny Frentress, who oversees all of the training for TVF&R’s firefighters, was eager for the conference to return to the region. “We are extremely proud and honored to host an event that’s offered an incredible opportunity for firefighters. Participants learned about trends in our industry and the best techniques to save lives and property. I have been so impressed with the level of professionalism demonstrated by the trainers and organizers. I’m also grateful to our firefighters, many of whom volunteer to help manage event logistics.”
In addition to facilitating education, conference organizers donate the net profits from the event to “Sons of the Flag”, a nonprofit organization that provides critical support to military service members, firefighters and civilians who have survived burn injuries. This past week, a substantial gift was given to the Emmanuel Burn Center.
