An estimated 400 people joined Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and other community partners Tuesday night for the "Prepare Out Loud" event at Tigard High School.
As part of the KGW "Keeping You Safe" campaign to get our community ready for disasters – big and small, the Red Cross hosted the unique, interactive preparedness presentation called Prepare Out Loud. The presentation helped those in attendance to understand the science and history of the Cascadia Subduction Zone and learn simple steps they can take right now to prepare for disasters of all kinds.
Participants were also encouraged to browse safety resources from local first-responder agencies, including TVF&R, Tigard Police Department, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency and Metro West Ambulance. Other local agencies who provided resources included Tigard's Emergency Management Department, the Regional Water Providers Consortium, Washington County, Multnomah County, NW Natural, Clean Water Services and Community Emergency Response Teams from Beaverton and Tualatin.
For those unable to attend the Tigard event. A second event will be held Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Montgomery Park, 2701 NW Vaughn St., in Portland. The final presentation is set for Thursday, Sept. 28, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the University of Portland's Buckley Auditorium, 5000 N. Willamette Blvd.
All of the events are free, and walk-ins are welcome.
