Shortly before 11 p.m. on Sunday, firefighters were dispatched to reports of a residential fire on Northeast Williamson Road in Newberg.
Firefighters from both Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and Dundee Fire Department arrived to find the house fully involved in flames and two occupants who safely exited the home.
Additional crews quickly worked to support the attack of the fire by shuttling water from a hydrant located several miles away. Crews had to contend with a steep driveway and icy conditions, as well as an active power line that fell to the ground.
Crews were able to get the fire under control and keep it from spreading to nearby woods and vegetation. While both occupants were uninjured, a dog perished in the fire.
TVF&R was assisted by two engines and a water tender from Dundee Fire Department, a truck from McMinnville Fire Department and crews from Portland General Electric.
A TVF&R investigator responded to the scene and is working to determine the cause of the fire that heavily damaged the house.
