At 3:59am a passer-by called 911 to report the side of a house and fence was on fire at a Southwest Portland home near the streets of SW Timberline Drive and SW Garden View Avenue. On arrival TVF&R firefighters found flames burning the south side of the home, as well as heavy smoke and fire coming from the 2nd story windows. Firefighters initiated a quick attack on the fire, while conducting a search of the home as the same time. Crews were able to get knockdown of the fire in approximately 20 minutes and prevent the fire from spreading to a neighboring house just 14 feet away.
A single female was home at the time of the fire and was able to escape with no injuries. She said she had gotten up to use the restroom when she noticed flames outside her bedroom window and quickly exited the home.
A TVF&R Fire Investigator is working on scene to determined fire cause and origin. No injuries were reported. TVF&R was assisted by Portland Engine 16.
