Arson Suspect in Custody

WASHINGTON COUNTY - - Thirty-nine-year-old Nghia Huu Tang, who lives at the Metzger Park Condominiums, which are located at 10000 SW Hall Boulevard, was arrested this afternoon on charges of Arson, Criminal Mischief and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. The charges stem from a fire this morning in Tang’s condominium. 

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue (TVF&R) responded to the one-alarm fire at about 11:30 a.m. The fire was confined to the unit occupied by Tang and there were no injuries.

While deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and inspectors with TVFR were conducting their investigations, deputies received a call stating that Nghia Huu Tang had turned himself at the Tigard Police Department.

Deputies spoke with Tang at the Tigard Police Department after which he was taken into custody and charged with above crimes. He is presently being held in the Washington County Jail. His bail is set at $25,000. He is scheduled for arraignment at 3:00 p.m. on Friday May 13, 2005.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
