Wildfire Preparedness and Prevention
During a wildfire, time is crucial and resources are limited. Depending on
the severity of the situation and what homeowners have done in advance
to protect their home, firefighters may not be able to safely protect
every home
threatened by a wildfire. Will firefighters be able to save YOUR home? Make improvements
to your home's readiness by reviewing our

TVF&R Adopts Wildfire Hazard Zones Map
Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue
has identified the Wildfire Hazard Zones within its service area. These
areas were identified using specific criteria such as typography, water
supply, and vegetation. The
adoption of the ordinance and map now gives homeowners residing in a
hazard zone, the option of saying “no” to wood shake and shingle roofing
- even if mandated by their homeowners’ association covenants and
restrictions. The District has identified 12,544 tax lots in Washington
and Clackamas counties that fall within an identified zone. To see if
you reside in a wildland hazard zone call TVF&R at 503-649-8577.

Is your home located at the end of a long driveway, hidden from view?
Whether it is a fire or medical emergency, minutes count and a visible
address can mean the difference between life and death. Help us help you.
If your home is set back from the roadway, post your home's address at the
beginning of your driveway.

Address Signs are available for individuals living in interface
areas within our service area. Contact your

Don't Let Fires Start in the First Place
Take precautions to ensure that fires don't start on your property.
Always supervise backyard burning and keep burn piles small enough that they
extinguish by night fall. In addition, have a hose or other water
supply close at hand in case of emergency.
