TVF&R's commitment to the Wellness Program is demonstrated by its investment in
quality fitness equipment in all District facilities. District fitness equipment
is geared towards muscular strength and endurance, injury prevention, and aerobic
conditioning. The Wellness Coordinator assists the District in the purchase,
maintenance, and repair of exercise equipment.
The Wellness Coordinator develops individual fitness programs, provides nutritional
counseling, and coordinates District training and educational programs with emphasis
on providing support to behavioral and rehabilitation components.
The Occupational Health Nurse provides annual vaccinations and blood-borne
pathogen training to all District staff. She is also responsible for the
coordination of District physical exams.
The District Physician and Occupational Health Services (OHS) serve as the
treatment coordinators, and oversee the implementation of treatment and
rehabilitation as prescribed for the employee. This serves to ensure
consistency and a high standard that will provide for more effective and
thorough care of employees.
The role of the Peer Fitness Trainer (PFT) is to encourage safety and
participation in fitness through motivation and supervision. TVF&R has
certified six PFTs through the American Council on Exercise. PFTs also
assist the Wellness Coordinator in the completion of the annual fitness
assessment evaluations.
