The Information Technology (IT) Department is responsible for supporting the District’s computing infrastructure, including the Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Wireless Local Area Network (wireless apparatus MDC updates). IT manages the District’s servers and file systems, network infrastructure equipment, phone switches, Internet access, databases and E-mail resources. IT supports approximately 275 workstations District-wide. The department maintains proper licensing and maintenance contracts for District owned software and hardware.
IT partners with all divisions to evaluate technology needs and determine the best solution
on both a program level and in support of the District’s overall strategic plan. IT provides support for District applications and databases via the IT/Communications Service Desk, which is primarily staffed by
a Customer Service Specialist.
Information Technology also provides 24x7 technical support for Operations through an after hours on-call rotation.
Today’s emergency responders rely on a wide variety of computing resources to carry out their day-to-day tasks as well as accessing critical information on emergency scenes. This requires a robust, secure and reliable computer network accessible from static work locations (stations and administrative complexes) to a mobile environment within all response apparatus and PDAs.
It also requires support to facilitate data
gathering and manipulation to assess and improve
District operations.
Data Analysis Program
The quality decision-making is determined largely
by the quality of the
information on which it based. Our Data Analysis
program collects and analyzes information about our
emergency operations, prevention, and public
education programs, and is responsible for presenting
it in a way that
helps managers make effective decisions. Data
Analysis staff work closely with all Fire District
personnel toward that end. Our community
continues to grow in size, diversity, and
sophistication, and they expect a high level of
service. We must be able to effectively gather
information, analyze it, and turn it into effective
action in order to meet our community's
expectations.
