23 units to be placed throughout TVF&R's service area
over time
Annually, TVF&R puts almost a million miles on its
fleet responding to emergencies and other service calls. Regular maintenance and timely replacement of apparatus is key to the District’s reliability and
quick response times. The typical lifespan of
emergency response apparatus is 15 years and/or approximately 150,000 miles.
TVF&R's capital improvement bond is purchasing replacement apparatus over
time, as existing front-line engines reach their 15-year
age or 150,000 mile threshold. The opening of
Station 50 in Tigard will
required purchase of new apparatus, as will the replacement
of the stations in West Linn. The bond will also pay for a
new ladder truck (most likely in or
near Tualatin) and a rescue vehicle in Sherwood.
New and replacement apparatus anticipated for purchase over
time as part of the bond include:
- 15 – Engines
- 2 – Trucks
- 2 – Water Tenders
- 2 – Transport Rescues
- 1 – Rescue Pumper
- 1 – Heavy Rescue
