Media Relations
The Portland Metropolitan media market includes five television stations, over 20 radio stations,
a daily
newspaper, a bi-weekly newspaper, and several community newspapers.
TVF&R has a Public Information Officer (PIO)
available 24-hours a day to respond to incidents which may be of interest to
the news media. These incidents typically include
multiple-alarm fires, motor vehicle accidents with trapped patients,
hazardous materials incidents, and incidents involving the District's
Specialty Rescue Teams. In addition, the PIOs also work with
news media during widespread emergencies such as earthquakes, flooding,
and winter storms to disseminate important safety information to the community.
District PIOs visit newsrooms on a regular basis and
host periodic
luncheons. In addition, the District utilizes "media pagers"
which are activated by the on-call PIO
immediately following a significant incident.
For more information, email

District's Public Information Office at (503) 642-0350.
