(Contest Winners Get Fire Engine Ride)
Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue will deliver on its promise of a fire engine ride to school for the winners of the "Name the Engine Contest" held in April at the Sherwood Community Services Fair. At 7:30 a.m. on June 8, 2001, the crew of Station 33 in Sherwood will pick up Victoria Kelley, 13, at her residence and take her to Sherwood Intermediate School, 400 N. Sherwood Blvd., aboard the fire district's newest engine. Kelley submitted the name "Little John" and the crew selected it as the best name for their new 2001 Pierce Dash fire engine. The name has been painted on the cab of the engine. The Sherwood volunteer crew examined the same entries for a name for their engine, which was placed into service last year. The name they selected was "Friar Tuck" submitted by 6-year old Kyle John. The volunteers will pick up John at his residence and transport him to Archer Glen Elementary School, 16155 Sunset Blvd., at 11:40 a.m. on June 8, 2001.
If you would like to cover either of these engine rides, contact Storm Smith, TVF&R Community Liaison, at 503-612-7013.
