(Sherwood Hosts Community Services Fair)

More than a dozen public and private agencies will present a Community Services Fair in Sherwood on Saturday, April 29, 2000. The event, which is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue’s Station 33, 655 N.E. Oregon, Sherwood, will feature interactive displays and information designed to show Sherwood area residents many of the services available. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue will feature its "Operation EDITH" trailer. EDITH stands for Exit Drills In The Home. Fire District educators use the mobile facility to teach children skills in escaping from a house fire. Additionally, children will get to squirt water from fire hoses. Sherwood Police will provide crime prevention information and displays. Sherwood Public Works will give children a chance to scoop dirt with a backhoe. At 12 noon, LifeFlight is scheduled to land a helicopter at the site for public display.

Other groups participating with displays and information include Sherwood Library, Sherwood Parks Department, Sherwood Public Schools, Sherwood Family YMCA, Tualatin Riverkeepers, Sherwood Chamber of Commerce, Tualatin Wildlife Refuge, Sherwood Art Festival, the Wetlands Conservancy, Helping Hands, Sherwood Youth Foundation, Providence Health Systems and the Robin Hood Association.

Sherwood Police will provide free soft drinks and hotdogs. There will also be free balloons for children. For more information, contact the City of Sherwood at 625-5522.
