Investigators Point to Area near Furnace on Barnes-Miller Village Fire

Fire investigators believe that the Barnes-Miller Village strip mall began in or near a gas furnace in the Cameloc Design business. Each of the six businesses had their own individual furnace system, which were all located on the south (Barnes Rd.) side of the building. The furnace has been taken from the scene and sent to a lab for additional testing. The results will help pinpoint whether the furnace itself was faulty. Arson has been ruled out as a possible cause.

The fire, which occurred on January 3 at 3:38 a.m., completely destroyed the building (valued at $1 million) and contents (possibly valued as high as $1 million).
