Investigators Finish Processing Barnes-Miller Village Fire Scene; Investigation Remains Open
Today investigators completed processing the scene of the Barnes-Miller Village fire and have turned the scene back over to the owner and insurance company. Since Monday, when a two-alarm fire destroyed the 10,000 square foot commercial structure, investigators have conducted a multitude of interviews with business owners and key witnesses and meticulously scrutinized the scene in an attempt to determine a fire cause.
Although the investigation remains open at this time, investigators believe that the fire probably started on the south side of the structure in either the International Teakwood Design or Cameloc Design business. Certain equipment and materials have been collected from the scene and sent to a lab for further analysis. Fire officials will wait to release possible causes following lab results. It is estimated that the results will not be available until mid next week.
The fire completely destroyed the building and contents of the six businesses. The building was valued at $1 million. Exact value of the contents is unknown at this time, but could be as high as $1 million.
