Investigation Continues at Barnes-Miller Village Fire
Today marks the second day that investigators have been digging through the fire scene at Barnes-Miller Village in an attempt to confirm the cause. The 8-person team of investigators spent Tuesday removing portions of the collapsed roof and on Wednesday began the laborious job of sifting through the charred remnants of the building and contents. Investigators are focusing their efforts in the middle to eastern end, on the south (Barnes Road) side of the building where Pavloc Chiropractic, International Teak Design, and Cameloc Design were located.
At this point, investigators are looking at all possible causes and have not ruled out anything. "This is an extremely tedious and labor intensive investigation," states Kate Stoller, Deputy Fire Marshal for Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue. "For the past two days, investigators have been pinpointing areas where the fire may have started, looking for evidence to substantiate a cause."
ATF joined Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue investigators due to the high dollar loss of the incident. Added Stoller, "They are a great resource to fire departments." ATF has assisted Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue numerous times in the past including the Stanton Industries fire in Tualatin and the Oakwood Park Apartments fire in Aloha.
