(Firefighters to Hone Rescue and Extrication Skills)
This week, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue firefighters will participate in training to sharpen their rescue and extrication skills. The in-house training, coordinated by the Districts Technical Rescue Team, involves lifelike scenarios (semi on top of a car, semi-tractor trailer into car, and, possibly, a car over an embankment) which require special extrication tools and techniques to safely remove patients (mannequins). The training will provide crews with realistic, hands-on training in a controlled environment.
The training takes place on April 4, 5 and 6, from 1:00-2:30 p.m., at the Districts Regional Training and Simulation Center (12400 SW Tonquin Road) in Sherwood. Participating each day will be truck and rescue crews currently located at the Beaverton, Tigard and Oregon City fire stations. These crews respond to incidents involving difficult and/or prolonged extrication including motor vehicle collisions, collapsed buildings, and cave-ins.
Media agencies interested in covering the training exercises should contact Karen Eubanks to coordinate dates and time.
