Annually, TVF&R puts almost one million miles on its
fleet responding to emergencies and other service calls.
Regular maintenance and timely replacement of apparatus is key to the District’s reliability and
prompt response times. The typical lifetime of a TVF&R
emergency response vehicle is 15 years and/or approximately 150,000 miles.
If the bond is approved, the purchase of replacement apparatus would be made over
time, as existing front-line apparatus reach their 15-year
age or 150,000 mile threshold. The opening of new
stations in Tigard (Walnut St.) and North Bethany will
require purchase of new apparatus, as would the replacement
of stations in West Linn. The bond would also help pay for a
new ladder truck that would likely be placed at or
near Tualatin, and a rescue vehicle in Sherwood.
New and replacement apparatus anticipated for purchase over
time as part of the bond include:
15 – Engines
2 – Trucks
2 – Water Tenders
2 – Transport Rescues
1 – Rescue Pumper
1 – Heavy Rescue
