In 2002, the Metro Regional Government approved a series of expansions to the Urban Growth Boundary,
including an 800 acre increase in the North Bethany area. Washington County is coordinating the master
planning for this site and expects a community of 3,500-6,500 people to eventually develop there.
When combined with the significant growth that has already occurred in the Bethany community,
construction of a new fire station will likely be warranted. As part of the deployment study for
this area, relocation of Station 68 is also being considered.
The District is actively pursuing the purchase of property for a future station
in this area. A standard three-bay station is anticipated, as well as a community room.
The pace of new development in this area will have a significant impact on the
timing of construction for this station.
